Community

The studio at Moscow Clayworks has hosted both an "after-school" ceramics program and an adult open community studio since opening in 2010. The program allows participants to make art in a safe community environment and continues to provide a local commuinity space dedicated to art making and the long stabding tradtional craft of pottery.
These pottery programs have been primarily funded with grants which has allowed the participants to utilize the pottery studio at a minimal cost for the adults and at "no cost" for the high school participants. Over the past fifteen years, Moscow Clayworks has mentored five studio assistants and multiple college interns.
The pottery studio at Moscow Clayworks is one the only working studios in NEPA to invite the community to participate. This opportunity allows the participants to utilize the equipment (potters' wheels, kiln, etc.) unique to the craft of pottery.
